ABOUT AROMATHERAPY MASSAGE

Description of Treatment: I can offer anything from neck, shoulders and back aromatherapy massage to a full body aromatherapy massage (including legs, stomach, arms, feet, hands and face). When you have a treatment I will ask you to fill out a form (online, over the phone or in person) which includes a medical history. This information will be kept confidential. Getting this information helps ensure the treatment has effective and safe essential oil blends. I will then ask you about your preferences e.g. pressure of massage and what you want from the aromatherapy treatment. Once we have identified what you may want a blend for (e.g. to help with stress), I will get the massage oils ready for your treatment. I will then give you a moment to get undressed and cover yourself on the massage table. I will use a range of massage techniques throughout the massage and the aromatherapy oil created earlier in the appointment.  After the massage, I will give you a chance to get dressed, give you after care advice but also ask you for feedback on your treatment so that, if you wish to see me again, I can make it even more to your preferences.

Aromatherapy Benefits: Aromatherapy massage is used by people for a variety of reasons, for example its potential relaxing and stimulating effects. Aromatherapy massage may help with relaxation, aiding sleep, relieving tension, improving skin condition, relieving anxiety and stress and promoting a general sense of wellbeing. Some use massage therapy alongside conventional medical care, to help them manage or cope with a specific physical, mental or emotional problem. There is also growing body of evidence to suggest that massage may be effective in helping to support people with certain chronic conditions, such as low back pain. The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE, 2016), suggests manual therapies – including massage – are recommended for the early management of persistent, non-specific low back pain. Please note, aromatherapy massage should not be used in place of conventional medical care. Always consult your GP or a health professional for medical attention and advice.
